The increasing number of legal and also customer-specific requirements on the content of certain substances in materials and products can only be managed through effective information management within the value chains. Against this background, the Core Group Material Declaration of the ZVEI Working Group Material Policy has updated the Guideline to Material Declaration first published in 2014.
The guideline is intended to help improve the communication of product-specific material and substance information within the supply chain and ensure "product compliance". The ZVEI guideline explains the different types of "material declarations within the supply chain" and deals in particular with the international standard IEC 62474 on material declarations for products from the electrotechnical industry and for the electrotechnical industry. In addition, an outlook is given on the cross-industry standard IEC/ISO 82474-1, which is currently in preparation.
A practical example in the appendix with the application of the different declaration types to a connector is intended to illustrate the different procedures and results and to facilitate the introduction to the topic.
