Process Orchstration - Harmonising the Integration of Modular Equipment

Around 100 manufacturers of German electrotechnical automation technology in process industries and the energy and supply industry are represented in the Measurement and Process Automation Section (FB M+P).

With Module Type Package (MTP) standardisation, an intelligent integration of different moduls into production processes is possible. MTP represents the type of a module, the Process Equipment Assemby (PEA) its physical composition. Together they form a smart module. A modular plant consists of various smart modules. To use this intelligent composition effectively, a corresponding flexible orchestration is necessary: Process Orchestration Layer (POL).
In this position paper, the joint working group of NAMUR and ZVEI informs about the latest developments in the field of process orchestration - and why this is of particular importance for the further development of modular production.
