Hanover Fair 2023: Special show on the future of production in the process industry

The focal points of the special show are, on the one hand, the core technology of modular automation - the Module Type Package (MTP), which gives the individual modules a digital description - and, on the other hand, the NAMUR Open Architecture (NOA), which enables a secure second channel for vital data, among other things, for monitoring and optimising process plants without disturbing the actual process.  

Modular production allows process plants to be created and converted quickly. At the same time, it enables companies to react flexibly to new market requirements and to reduce the engineering effort considerably.

Modular production with MTP is an important part of the digitalisation of the process industry, which is increasingly being driven forward by plant operators. Thus, important KPIs of process plants can be significantly improved. On average, time-to-market can be halved, engineering effort reduced by 70 per cent, and flexibility increased by 80 per cent. 

NOA is also a core element of the digitalisation of the process industry. "Stranded" vital data can only be achieved with enormous engineering effort and remains unused in 80 percent of plants up to now. NOA reduces this effort and makes more usable data available to users. The demand for measurement data therefore increases because the usefulness of the data increases. A win-win for users and manufacturers.

Companies such as ABB, Copa-Data, Emerson, Fink, Endress+Hauser, Hima, Pepperl+Fuchs, Phoenix Contact, Schneider Electric, Semodia, Siemens, as well as a large number of users such as BASF, Bayer, Bilfinger, CHT, Clariant, Covestro, Evonik, Heubach, Lanxess and Merck from the chemical-pharmaceutical industry are participating in the special show in cooperation with module manufacturers.
