Fault tolerance in machine safety Part I

The present white paper "Fault tolerance in machine safety" describes for the first time a way in which fault-tolerant safety functions can be used to maintain the continued operation of a machine or plant in certain fault scenarios without neglecting personal protection. 

This shows alternatives to the immediate shutdown of fault detection without exposing persons to unacceptable risks.
