Already during the design process of a product, the customer should benefit of his EMS part-ner’s expertise and knowledge to achieve efficiently all quality targets by using optimized test strategies. Here coordinated process controls and intelligent test method combinations are used. After a joint risk evaluation an ideal test strategy will be developed and the implemen-tation of wiring and design requirements are supported. The quality target determines the responsibilities between customer and contractor. Since each testing method has specific requirements, the service package of the EMS partner includes New Product Introduction (NPI) with the service packages DfT (Design for Testability), DfM (Design for Manufactru-ring), DfC (Design for Cost) and DfL (Design for Logistic).
Potential consequential costs like warranty & service charges, costs for a recall campaign or damage to the company’s image due to defective products exceed significantly the initial and testing-costs.
