ZVEI-Study: „From Chips to chances"

Digitalisation and networking are pervading all areas of our lives and are crucial for future success.

Funding for the microelectronics industry is a worthwhile investment for the state. This is one of the findings of the ZVEI study ‘From chips to opportunities: The importance and cost-effectiveness of microelectronics funding’. Such subsidies generate more tax revenue, more employment and more added value. But: Europe must step up its commitment, otherwise it will hardly be able to expand its technological sovereignty and make its supply chains more resilient.

The study deals with various economic and political aspects of the microelectronics industry in five chapters:

  • The microelectronics industry and its development
  • Chip shortages and their impact
  • The ROI of microelectronics funding
  • Microelectronics as a driver of sustainability goals
  • Technology sovereignty and the role of microelectronics as a core building block
