What is this all about?
- Suspension of customs duties on listed products; in particular goods in the information technology sector, but also some products in the medical technology and electronic components/semiconductors sector.
- An update of the IT Agreement (ITA) has been under discussion since 2012. The original agreement, which decided to abolish customs duties on information technology products, was adopted by 29 WTO members in 1997 and no longer reflects the current state of the art. The product list thus represents an extension of the ITA (ITA II).
