Information technology has become an integral part of our daily work. People and things hang equally and almost everywhere in and on the internet. Office and production processes gradually become part of a cross-company network, the so-called Internet of Things and Services.
The association is building on these milestones in 2019 and continues to expand its pioneering role in Industrie 4.0: A common language for Industrie 4.0-capable devices is an important prerequisite, because it ultimately makes the factory truly smart. ZVEI is currently working on this. The basis for this is the administration shell, the so-called digital twin of an object. At the end of 2018, the first developer-ready description of a Unified Modeling Language (UML) model was made available for this administration shell: Another milestone for Industrie 4.0 "made in Germany" from the ZVEI. The implementation in the industrial M2M communication protocol OPC-UA will follow shortly.
International standardization will also remain on the agenda in 2019. The ZVEI is committed to introducing a joint position with Italy and France on administrative bodies in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
At the same time, the administration shell is to be used to implement the 3i strategy of the management circle: The electronic identification of products with a digital type plate, which is stored in the administration shell, serves as an application case. This is a unique opportunity to bring the administrative shell model into operational implementation. In this way, the German automation experts show the users in companies and politics how a paperless, everywhere available technical documentation can work with the administration shell.
In 2019, ZVEI will continue to advocate the local allocation of 5G frequencies to industry and present a demonstrator for communication between industrial 4.0-capable drives, the so-called 4.0 drives.
