Despite a last-minute rail strike, 50,000 visitors flocked to the exhibition centre over three full days to discover the latest trends in the automation industry.
The trade fair kicked off with the ZVEI press conference, which offered insights into economic news and industry-relevant challenges such as regulation. Rainer Brehm (Director of FV Automation, Siemens) outlined the opportunities for the industry on the path from automated production to automated industry (slides from the ZVEI press conference).
The ZVEI showcase PCF@ControlCabinet, a flexible, efficient and future-proof concept for the technical implementation of a digital product passport, was a magnet for visitors to the ZVEI stand. Here, visitors were able to experience live how the CO2 footprint (Product Carbon Footprint, PCF) of an enclosure - consisting of a large number of products from different companies - is calculated automatically.
Another highlight was the digital type plate for software. In addition to the main ZVEI stand, the two ZVEI working groups 5G-ACIA and Open DC Alliance (ODCA) also presented themselves.
Opposite the main stand, the VDMA/ZVEI Technology Stage offered a varied programme with numerous presentations on the topics of digital transformation, Industry 4.0 and sustainability in automation. The Technology Stage presentations were streamed live and will be available on-demand on the trade fair website until 31 December 2023.
