Year after year, municipalities and companies spend large amounts of money on lighting. The relevant electricity costs could be reduced by up to 80 per cent, particularly for the interior lighting of industrial and office buildings.
Lighting harbours enormous possible savings for municipalities and companies. In the case of industrial lighting alone, according to the calculations of the ZVEI, around € 1 billion could be saved annually by the use of intelligently controlled, modern lighting technology. A further € 450 million could be saved in office buildings.
With practical online tools, decision-makers in municipalities and companies and energy service-providers can simulate the replacement of lighting step-by-step. Together with the energy-efficiency initiative of the Deutsche Energie-Agentur GmbH (dena – German Energy Agency), the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association (ZVEI) has developed online tools intended to enable companies, municipalities and public bodies to utilize these savings potentials.
The tool for interior lighting can be retrieved from the Internet address “www.lotse-innenbeleuchtung.de”. Its purpose is to demonstrate to decision-makers and responsible employees how the energy-efficiency of internal lighting of buildings can be systematically improved while maintaining consistent light quality. Comprehensive information, for example projects and practical recommendations for action, can be retrieved for all stages of a typical modernisation, such as analysis, planning, financing, procurement and maintenance of lighting systems. The lighting planning is a focal point of the online offer.
The joint project has been sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology as part of the energy-efficiency initiative.
