Eased corona measures in the German federal states allow the organisation of trade fairs under restricted conditions. ZVEI considers Messe München's decision to hold electronica 2020 from November 10 to 13 to be an important signal for the industry, but also for Germany as a trade fair location in general. "After difficult months, Messe München is sending out a positive signal not only to companies, but also to all other trade fairs, which can now start planning again," says Christoph Stoppok, Director of the Components, Mobility and Systems Division in ZVEI.
The decision comes at the right time. A recent ZVEI survey among member companies identified first cautious signs of recovery in Germany and within the eurozone. In addition, demand from China is also picking up again. "The economic downturn triggered by the Covid 19 pandemic seems to have bottomed out," explains Stoppok. "Trade fairs taking place on-site from autumn onwards can help to secure this development and provide important impulses." It is crucial to offer a platform to the industry that provides direct and international exchange of information while maintaining conclusive protection and hygiene measures. The past few months have shown that digital formats are a good addition, but they cannot completely replace on-site trade fairs.
