CO2-neutral industry is a central basis for the transformation to a climate-neutral society. An important contribution to this is the supply of factories and plants with direct current. DC-INDUSTRIE describes an open system for the efficient integration of renewable energies with reduced energy requirements for sustainable production. The system concept describes how companies can use the advantages of direct current technology. We would like to present this to you.
The system concept presented at the beginning of April shows the technical realization of open industrial DC grids. In doing so, the concept is open and manufacturer-independent and presents the possibility of simple integration of renewable energies and suitable storage systems into a direct current network for users. By presenting and making available the data from the system concept, the ZVEI aims to drive forward the acceptance of DC technology.
In the DC-INDUSTRIE research project and the follow-up project DC-INDUSTRIE2, ZVEI has been investigating the potential of direct current technology for industrial production plants together with more than 40 companies and research institutions since 2016. DC technology has already been successfully tested and applied in model plants and transfer centers. At the end of 2022, one of Germany's largest collaborative research projects will come to an end as planned. To drive forward the revolutionization of a factory's energy supply even after the end of the research project, the ZVEI is establishing a direct current alliance by the end of the year. This alliance brings together companies, universities and research institutes to develop international standards in areas such as LVDC. Based on industrial applications, other application areas for DC grids, such as infrastructure, buildings, commerce or the hydrogen economy, are to come together in the alliance and work together on the smart grid of the future.
